Garlic – A whole head of garlic a day does miracles for your body. It stimulates the immune system and normalizes your gut flora. Garlic is a powerful natural antibiotic and kills a large number of different bacteria. Eating garlic on an empty stomach is effective in preventing and treating many diseases. When you consume garlic on an empty stomach it increases its power as an antibiotic.
Cold and Flu Juice
1-inch knob of fresh ginger,
juice of 1 freshly squeezed orange
juice of 1 freshly squeezed grapefruit
Benefits: Fresh ginger has anti-viral properties and vitamin C, prevalent in both orange and grapefruit juices, may reduce the frequency of the common cold. Take a little every morning on an empty stomach.
Ginger Soup
1-2 inch piece of Fresh Ginger sliced thinly.
4 Green onions sliced into medium sized pieces.
1-2 garlic cloves peeled and chopped
6 cups Chicken bone broth or regular chicken stock
Place ginger, onions, garlic and mushrooms (if you choose) in a pot and add a small amount of broth. Simmer until ingredients are softened. Add the rest of the stock and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 20-30minutes. Sip on broth throughout the day and feel better! You can eat the ginger pieces for some extra heat. Add other vegetables to make it more of a meal. Don’t add much salt as salt tends to bring things deeper into the body and this is more about pushing out.
Add in dried or fresh mushrooms for an extra boost of energy.
Add 4-5 pieces of Astragalus (Huang Qi) to the broth as it is simmering to boost your immune system and energy.
Master Tonic
1 part fresh chopped garlic cloves
1 part fresh chopped white onions, or the hottest onions
1 part fresh grated ginger root
1 part fresh grated horseradish root
1 part fresh chopped Cayenne peppers, Jalapenos, Serranos, Habeneros, African bird peppers or any combination of the hottest peppers available
Fill a glass jar 3/4 of the way full with equal parts of the fresh chopped or grated ingredients. Fresh herbs are best. Cover completely with raw unfiltered, unbleached, apple cider vinegar. Close and shake vigorously and then top off the vinegar if necessary. Keep the jar in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks. Shake the tonic daily a couple of times.
Begin this formula on the NEW moon and strain and bottle on the FULL moon, (approximately 14 days). Strain liquids from solids after steeping for 2 weeks. Filter the mixture through a clean piece of cotton (coffee filter or colander), bottle and label. Store your Master Tonic in a dark place. Take 1/2 to 1 ounce, two or more times daily, as needed. Another suggestion is to partake of it as a condiment.
You may puree the solids and add to honey or lemon juice, or make salad dressing or marinade for meats. Master Tonic lasts indefinitely at room temperature, after straining.
“This tonic is extremely powerful, because all the ingredients are fresh. Its power should not be underestimated. This formula is a modern day plague tonic. It is said that when added to an incurable routine it could cure the most chronic conditions and stubborn diseases. It stimulates maximum blood circulation, while putting the best detoxifying herbs into the blood. This formula is not just for the sniffles, it has helped to turn around the deadliest diseases.”
“I designed this formula as a fresh herb alternative to Dr. Christopher’s plague formula, to be more alive, a herbal juice tonic, and believe me, you don’t want to be without formulas like this when you or your loved ones get ill; it will save your life. Make up plenty, it can’t go bad because vinegar already is, and will last almost forever,” writes Dr. Shultz.

For A Stronger Heart
Catch some sunshine! It could protect your heart, according to a new study in Nature Medicine. A group of mice was exposed to a light box t of illumination similar to the outdoors. When researchers induced heart attacks in the mice, the light-treated rats showed signs they had been protected from heart attack–induced tissue damage. Researchers discovered when you go in the sun that heart-protective proteins (called Period 2 proteins) appear more often in your body. The light-treated mice had 4 times as many Period 2 proteins compared to mice who weren’t exposed.
Here’s how it works: When you go into cardiac arrest, your heart delivers less oxygen to the body. Period 2 proteins help your body be more efficient at using oxygen, so you can survive on less, says lead researcher Tobias Eckle, Ph.D., professor at the University of Colorado Denver.
Beet Juice for Blood Pressure
Researchers have discovered that drinking 17 ounces of beetroot juice a day can significantly reduce blood pressure. The findings could have major implications for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. It is the ingestion of dietary nitrate contained within beetroot juice — and similarly in green, leafy vegetables — which results ultimately in decreased blood pressure.
The decrease in blood pressure was due to the chemical formation of nitrite from the dietary nitrate in the juice. The nitrate in the juice is converted in saliva, by bacteria on the tongue, into nitrite. This nitrite-containing saliva is swallowed, and in the acidic environment of the stomach is either converted into nitric oxide or re-enters the circulation as nitrite. The peak time of reduction in blood pressure correlated with the appearance and peak levels of nitrite in the circulation.
Hypertension causes around 50 per cent of coronary heart disease, and approximately 75 per cent of strokes. Nitrate is likely to underlie the cardio-protective effect of a vegetable-rich diet. Drinking beetroot juice, or consuming other nitrate-rich vegetables, might be a simple way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, and may be an additional approach in the modern day battle against rising blood pressure.
Blood Pressure Lowering Juice
2 Stalks of Celery
1/2 beet
2 Carrots
1/2 green apple
lemon
Juice all ingredients and enjoy.
Health benefits of celery juice – Balances body’s blood pH, neutralizing acidity. Acts as the perfect post-workout tonic as it replaces lost electrolytes and rehydrates the body with its rich minerals. Celery is known to contain at least eight families of anti-cancer compounds. Among them are the acetylenics that have been shown to stop the growth of tumor cells. Phenolic acids which block the action of prostaglandins that encourage the growth of tumor cells. And coumarins which help prevent free radicals from damaging cells. The phytochemical coumarins prevent the formation and development of the colon and stomach cancers. This humble pale juice has been shown to effectively and significantly lower total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol. The natural laxative effect of celery helps to relieve constipation. It helps relax nerves that have been overworked by man-made laxatives. The potassium and sodium in celery juice helps to regulate body fluid and stimulate urine production, making it an important help to rid the body of excess fluid. The polyacetylene in celery is an amazing relief for all inflammation like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, asthma and bronchitis. Kidney function: Celery promotes healthy and normal kidney function by aiding elimination of toxins from the body. While eliminating toxins, it prevents formation of kidney stones. Lower blood pressure: Drinking celery juice every day for a week significantly helps lower blood pressure. A compound called phtalides help relax the muscle around arteries, dilating the vessels and allowing blood to flow normally. To be effective, drink the juice for one week, stop for three weeks, and start over.
Food for the Heart:
Cranberries Researchers found that men who drank 3 cups of cranberry juice daily raised their HDL (the good kind) cholesterol levels by 10 percent, which in turn lowered their risk of heart disease by 40 percent. Plant compounds called polyphenols are believed to be responsible for the effect.
Whole Grains At Tulane University, researchers found that people who ate 4 or more servings of whole grains a week had a 22 percent lower risk of developing heart disease than those who ate the foods once a week or less.
Grapefruit Eating one grapefruit each day can lower your total cholesterol and LDL levels by 8 and 11 percent, respectively, lowering your risk of heart disease and providing you with more than 150% of your daily-recommended vitamin C.
Water Researchers found that drinking 5 or more 8-ounce glasses of water a day could lower the risk of heart disease up to 60 percent— the same drop you get from stopping smoking, lowering your LDL cholesterol number, exercising, or losing a little weight. Replace half of what you drink with water and you’ll save 23 pounds per year!
Fish Omega-3 fats in tuna and other fish and flaxseed help strengthen the heart muscle, lower blood pressure, prevent over clotting, and reduce the level of potentially deadly inflammation in the body.
Fruits high in vitamin C, like oranges and pineapple: According to research from England, people with the most vitamin C in their bloodstreams are 40 percent less likely to die of heart disease.
Relieve and Prevent Varicose Veins:
Lose weight. Eat low-fat foods and add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. Drink green juices that are alkalizing and improve blood circulation. Drink LOTS of water daily.
Foods That Help: Green vegetables, cherries, blueberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, cranberries, kiwifruits, citrus fruits, bell peppers, pineapple, beetroot, whole grains.
Juice Recipe:
½ medium-sized beetroot
½ small pineapple
2 ribs celery
½ yellow bell pepper
¼ lemon
½-inch ginger root
Top 6 Foods That Can Naturally Unclog Arteries
Your arteries continually transport essential nutrients and oxygen one needs from the heart to the rest of your body. Here are 6 natural foods that will help cleanse and unclog arteries and help prevent a heart attack or stroke:
Organic Asparagus “Asparagus works within the 100,000 miles of veins and arteries to release pressure, thereby allowing the body to accommodate for inflammation that has accumulated over the years.” says Shane Ellison, an organic chemist and author of Over-The-Counter Natural Cures. It helps ward off deadly blood clots.
Organic Pomegranate “Pomegranate contains phytochemicals that act as antioxidants to protect the lining of the arteries from damage”, explains Dr. Gregg Schneider, a nutritionally oriented dentist and expert on alternative medicine.
Turmeric “The spice turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory,” Dr. Schneider says. “It contains curcumin which lowers inflammation—a major cause of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries.)”
Spirulina A daily 4,500 mg dose of this algae helps relax the artery walls and normalize blood pressure. It could help your liver balance your blood fat levels.
Organic Cranberries are potassium-rich and can help reduce cholesterol levels. Regular consumption may help reduce your overall risk of heart disease by up to 40 percent.
Organic Watermelon A Florida State University study found that people given a 4,000 mg supplement of L-citrulline (an amino acid found in watermelon) lowered their blood pressure in just six weeks. Researchers say the amino acid helps your body produce nitric oxide, which helps widen blood vessels.
Natural therapy for opening the veins of the heart:
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup ginger juice
I cup garlic juice
1 cup organic Apple vinegar
Mix all above and boil gently til it is 3 cups. Remove from heat and cool. Mix with 3 cups natural honey and store in glass bottle. Take one tbl daily before breakfast. Blockage from veins disappears slowly.

The array of healthy herbs and spices that our plant world has to offer us expands our palates and perks up our dinner plates and also perform important restorative functions throughout our bodies to help keep us healthy, vibrant, and disease-free.
These as especially noteworthy for two reasons: Each is distinctly potent for healing, make excellent additions to your favorite meal dishes and they’re all easy to find and easy on the wallet.
1.Turmeric has profound anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric’s pain relieving, immune-modulating, heavy metal-detoxifying, and cancer-preventing benefits are pronounced. A relative of ginger, it is among the world’s most therapeutic natural substances. There are at least 580 different ways in which turmeric can help the body, which include its ability to prevent and fight cancer, mitigate radioactive exposure, protect against disease-causing inflammation, and bolster brain health. Turmeric has long held premier status in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for nearly 6,000 years.
2. Chili Pepper gives food a spicy kick! A compound found in chili pepper known as capsaicin stops the body from producing damaging inflammation. Capsaicin helps relieve pain and promote nerve health, and is an excellent choice for people with arthritis. Capsaicin, found in cayenne, jalapeños, and several other nightshades, has been shown in studies to fight cancer. Capsaicin is powerfully chemo-protective, as well as a promoter of apoptosis (causes cancer cells to commit cell “suicide.)”
3. Rhodiola Rosea, known as “golden root,” has the generalized effect of helping the body to effectively navigate a volatile and stressful world. It can directly combat the damaging effects of environmental pollution inside our bodies and help keep our minds clear and blood pressure levels in check. It helps the body to burn fat while producing more energy, lowers cortisol levels, improves brain function, and fights depression. It aids red blood cells in delivering more oxygen to muscles. Studies show that rhodiola invokes an anti-inflammatory response in the body, helping to boost performance and improve muscle recovery. The cortisol-lowering properties of rhodiola help balance thyroid function and optimize hormone production.
4. Ginseng – There are 11 different varieties of this well-known herb. It is one of the most popular native remedies in the world and is used to treat headaches, promote fertility, improve digestion, and boost energy levels, strengthen the immune system, and aid in sexual healing and rejuvenation. Ginseng has an amazing ability to keep disease-causing inflammation at bay. Ginseng is a powerful anti-cancer herb that improvs the function of natural killer cells while minimizing oxidative stress throughout the body.
5. Ginkgo Biloba has a solid track record of therapeutic use that extends thousands of years. Ginkgo biloba exhibits powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune-modulating effects that are well-documented in scientific literature. People use ginkgo regularly to help improve memory, mood, and brain function. Science suggests that this herb can help increase energy and improve focus. Ginkgo stands out from the rest for its ability to prevent, and even reverse, cognitive decline and neurodegeneration, while helping to lift one’s spirits and improve feelings of calm and contentment. Nervous system disorders like fibromyalgia respond positively to ginkgo.
#6: Bacopa is another Ayurvedic herb that shows incredible healing benefits for brain health as it relates to concentration and memory. Bacopa has an adaptogenic effect in helping to mitigate stress and stress-related health conditions, emphasized by its ability to modulate the brain’s production of dopamine and other “feel-good” chemicals as needed. It helps relieve anxiety and depression, and studies show it can help ward off degenerative brain conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
#7: Periwinkle has an extensive history of use in Ayurveda. Periwinkle is loaded with vinca alkaloids that are powerfully cytotoxic − meaning they kill cancer cells. In addition to helping lower blood pressure and fighting off pathogens, vinca alkaloids are so effective in healing cancer that they are said to be the second-most-used class of cancer “drugs” in modern medicine.
#8: Astragalus contains an array of saponins, flavonoids, polysaccharides, and other unique compounds that boost immunity, protect against heart disease, ward off bacteria and viruses, and improve cellular communication. It has been shown to break down and eliminate tumors and is known for its ability to target the inflammatory responses that, in many cases, cause healthy cells to go rogue and become cancerous in the first place.
#9: Holy Basil is often brewed as a tea to help calm the nerves and balance blood sugar levels. It can help to restore proper functionality to both the thyroid and adrenal glands. What makes holy basil special in this regard, along with rhodiola, ginseng, and some of the other adaptogenic herbs is the fact that this herb isn’t a stimulant, yet its stress-relieving properties help normalize adrenal function, which in turn helps boost energy levels, focus, and mental stability. Holy basil helps fight cancer, exhibiting powerful anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties that protect nearly every system of the body from breakdown including vital organs and the cellular system. Antioxidant phytonutrients in holy basil help to promote healthy gene expression, as well as inhibit cancer metastasis and tumor growth. They’ve even exhibited a direct effect in destroying cancer cells.
#10: Lemon Balm is an herb that hails from the mint family. This healthy herb is one that many people use aromatherapeutically to promote calm, peace of mind, and restful sleep. Lemon balm helps sharpen memory, boost alertness, and improve overall mood and is a powerful antioxidant that prevents cancer-causing free radical damage throughout the body thus helping to prevent the formation of chronic disease. Lemon balm serves as a potent liver tonic aiding in the liver’s production of two of the most important antioxidants that our bodies need for health: glutathione and superoxide dismutase.
#11: Rosemary has an intoxicating aroma. Rosemary helps improve cognitive performance and mood, and helps one think better and perform daily tasks more efficiently and effectively. Two key constituents of rosemary, caffeic acid and rosemarinic acid, are potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that help protect the body against free radical damage. Rosemary contains a substance known as carnosol that helps rid the body of toxic substances that can lead to the formation of breast cancer. Rosemary possesses generalized anti-tumoral properties that help to prevent cancers of the colon, liver, stomach, skin, and blood.

Clean Your Diet
1. Avoid trans fats and saturate fats and choose heart healthy cold pressed vegetable oils such as olive, hempseeds or flaxseed oils or coconut oil.
2. Eat what’s in season. Seasonal cooking is one of the best way to eat fruits and vegetables at their peak freshness, which makes them more delicious and more nutritious.
3. Eat more raw food. Raw food brings you vitamins, minerals and enzymes that could be destroyed by cooking. Eating more raw fruits and vegetables is a way to detox naturally.
4. Go vegan. Heavy food such as meat can be difficult to digest. It creates more metabolic waste that your body has to detox afterward.
5. Drink water. Water is the ultimate detox food.
6. Discover tender greens. Spring is the ideal time to introduce new delicious and alkalizing greens.
7. Add dandelion to your meals: Dandelion is one of the best detox foods. It naturally cleanses the liver and supports all the organs involved in natural detoxification.
Lemon Juice
Toxins can have harmful effects on the body, harming metabolism and hormones, impairing the digestive system, and zapping energy levels. This helps the body eliminate some of the toxins, improve digestion, stimulate metabolism, and boost energy.
Upon waking, squeeze 1/2 to 1 full organic lemon into an 8 oz glass of room temperature distilled water. Drink 10 minutes before eating any food.
3 Major benefits:
Lemons contain powerful antibacterial, antiviral and immune boosting components and are a great digestive aid and liver cleanser. Lemons contain citric acid, magnesium, bioflavonoids, vitamin C, pectin, calcium and limonene, which supercharge our immunity so the body can fight infection.
Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods. Although they are acidic, in the body, lemons are alkaline; the citric acid doesn’t create acidity once metabolized. The minerals in lemons help alkalize the blood. Drinking lemon water reduces overall acidity, drawing uric acid from the joints helping to reduce pain and inflammation. The American Cancer Society recommends warm lemon water to encourage regular bowel movements. Benefits are:
1. Improves digestion and stimulates bile production. Lemon juice can be an aid for heartburn and indigestion.
2. Boosts your energy: The scent of lemon juice has been shown to improve mood and energy levels, and reduce anxiety. The detoxifying effect and alkalizing effect of fresh organic lemon juice improves energy through the removal of toxins from the body.
3. Lemon juice aids in removal of toxins, and increases energy levels, helping one to lose body fat and improve hormonal balance.
Himalayan Pink Salt can help with the absorption of vital nutrients through the walls of the intestines and is thought to help reduce the chances of forming kidney and gall bladder stones. It’s believed that it helps to maintain a healthy ph within cells of the body that in turns helps to prevent disease and normalize energy levels. It can help to maintain healthy blood pressure over regular table salt when mixed with water and taken. Himalayan pink salt is believed to help slow the effects of aging. Added to a natural face scrub, finer crystals can help to exfoliate. This salt contains over 80 minerals that are essential to health and bone building. Consuming this salt can help to naturally maintain water levels in the body lost throughout the day.
Pink Himalayan crystal salt is widely believed to help with losing excess fat. Muscle cramps can be treated or prevented naturally by taking this pink salt. Other health benefits include heart health, healthy blood sugar levels, healthy libido, better sleep patterns, preventing rheumatism, preventing gout naturally, and sinus health.
Magnesium – Muscle spasms and cramps at night could mean a magnesium deficiency. A deficiency could lead to heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, migraines, osteoporosis and even PMS. Magnesium deficiency can go undetected because it doesn’t show up on a blood test. Only one percent of the magnesium in the body is stored in blood. The majority is stored in your bones. If you wake up during the night with a leg cramp, swallow a teaspoon of mustard to relieve. According to the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for magnesium is:
14 to 18 years — Males: 410 mg / Females: 360 mg
19 to 30 years — Males: 400 mg / Females: 310 mg
31 to 50 years — Males: 420 mg / Females: 320 mg
51+ years — Males: 420 mg / Females: 320 mg
Magnesium promotes strong teeth and bones, acts as a natural blood thinner, and may help prevent diabetes. It’s essential for maintaining normal muscle and nerve function, and keeping the respiratory system healthy. We need to consume more magnesium-rich foods such as:
Spinach — 157 mg magnesium per cup
Chard — 154 mg magnesium per cup
Pumpkin seeds — 92 mg magnesium per 1/8 cup
Almonds — 80 mg magnesium per cup
Black beans — 60 mg magnesium per 1/2 cup
Avocados — 58 mg magnesium per one medium
Figs — 50 mg magnesium per 1/2 cup
Bananas — 32 mg magnesium per one medium
Yogurt or kefir—50 mg magnesium per 1/2 cup
Chocolate—95 mg magnesium per one square
Magnesium-Boost Balls

Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer for up to one month.
Three Tips for Breakfast That Keep Kids Awake at School
Certain foods, in the right combinations, can boost brain function, enhance memory and improve concentration. It’s important for school-age children to start their day with a well-rounded breakfast. Breakfast skippers have more trouble academically and can be prone to behavioral issues. Carbohydrates that have slow-releasing sugars to keep kids fired and ready for learning all morning include foods like oatmeal. Proteins put on the brakes when it comes to absorbing sugars found in carbs, so add nuts, nut butters and plain or Greek-style yogurt to the morning meal. Another great source of protein is eggs. The choline found in the whites helps with memory development. Antioxidants prevent cell damage and help halt it, too. These nutrients further fuel the brain to help with learning, so add foods like blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and cherries. Make sure they get enough sleep too!
Peanut Butter Energy Bites are incredibly tasty, and makes a great in-between meal snack when hunger pangs hit or when you’re running low on fuel.
1 tsp organic vanilla extract
⅔ cups creamy peanut butter
½ cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
1 cup quick oats
2 tbsp honey
HEALTH BENEFITS OF MUSTARD SEED
Mustard seeds are low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium and a rich source of fiber, protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, and selenium.
EFFECTS ON CANCER – Mustard seeds are a rich source of glucosinolates. Enzymes in the seeds break up glucosinolates into other phytonutrients that inhibit the growth of existing cancer cells in addition to protecting these cells from forming. Mustard seed powder significantly inhibits the growth of bladder cancer.
EFFECTS ON THYROID FUNCTION – Selenium is found in high levels in mustard seeds. One tablespoon provides 21% of our recommended daily intake. This mineral is a powerful antioxidant and helps reduce the asthma symptoms, rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, lowers blood pressure, reduces migraine attacks and helps prevent cancer. Selenium boosts an underperforming thyroid hormone T4, into the more active T3 and is essential to maintain a healthy thyroid function.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES – Curcumin, present in mustard seeds, are powerful antioxidants with proven benefits at fighting cancer and are a strong anti-inflammatory compound. It reduces pain in inflammatory illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. Mustard seeds and the powder can be added to many dishes, stews, curries, marinades, vinaigrettes, smoothies or simple dipping sauces.
Natural Coconut Oil Toothpaste No hazardous chemicals. It fights cavities. No foaming agents. It’s cheap and easy to make. For most benefits use organic coconut oil and make your toothpaste use 15-20 drops of peppermint, spearmint or cinnamon oil or 10 drops myrrh for powerful antibacterial effects.Melt, or soften your coconut oil. Mix in all other ingredients. Stir several times as the mixture cools. Put mixture into a glass.

Inflammation Juice
½ cup tea water
¼ teaspoon turmeric (dissolve)
¼ teaspoon raw honey (dissolve)
juice of ½ lemon.
Benefits: Turmeric holds more anti-inflammatory power than ginger, which is famous in this role. The raw honey acts as a sweetener and an anti-inflammatory agent and has anti-bacterial qualities. Lemon is an astringent to the body and packs its own anti-inflammation perks.
Candida
1 teaspoon fresh garlic juice (or 1 squashed/minced garlic)
1 drop of oil of oregano
juice of ½ lemon
Benefits: This one is going to go down hard, but your body wants it, trust me. Oil of oregano isn’t a walk in the part – it’s harsh! But, it is incredibly detoxifying and fights candida! Candida is a condition that results from the overgrowth of yeast in your system (particularly prevalent among women), and can cause acne, bloating and lethargy, among other symptoms. Lemon is highly alkaline after it enters your body and helps to restore the acid-base balance. Candida thrives in an acidic environment, so lemon helps to create an unattractive place for it to live and grow. Garlic has exhibited anti-candida properties and makes this concoction ever the more unbearable, but that shouldn’t stop you! You can cut out high carbohydrates and sugar from your diet and to help
yourself heal. Yeast feeds on sugar.

Kelp Is on the Way
Kombu is a subtype of kelp and is valuable for its high iodine content, needed to produce two important thyroid hormones that control the metabolism. A pigment in kombu called fucoxanthin may boost production of a protein involved in fat metabolism. Look for kelp powder or good quality thick, long brown kelp pieces in health food stores, Asian markets, and online.

Quick Daily Liver Cleanse
“The liver has more than five hundred functions in the body? “Your four-and-a-half pound liver manufactures 13,000 chemicals and has 2,000 enzyme systems, plus thousands of synergists that help the body function,” says Liz Lipski, PhD in her book Digestive Wellness.
Among the liver’s five hundred functions are:
Detoxing, cleansing, and purifying blood
Producing and excreting bile
Activating enzymes
Excreting bilirubin, cholesterol, hormones and drugs
Storing glycogen, vitamins and minerals
Synthesizing plasma proteins
Producing aminoacids.
It is one of the few organs that can regenerate itself. However, repetitive damage and severe toxins like pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, alcohol, and dyes can lead to liver failure, dysfunction, cancer, and ultimately even death.
There are quite a number of various cleanses to support the detoxification process of the liver. There are ten day cleanses that include vegetable juice, water and vitamin C, there are sauna treatments, mud baths, or castor oil packs. This cleanse is very gentle, non-invasive and simple.
First thing each morning drink a large glass of water with half a lemon squeezed in it. Take no ice with the water and make sure it is room temperature so that it does not cause a shock to the system. The liver flushes toxins out of our bloodstream while we are asleep- in fasting mode. Lemon water aids the flushing of the toxins and free radicals from the liver. You will find yourself more awake, with a better digestive response to food throughout the day, and less likely to develop migraines or headaches. Save the other half of lemon for the glass of water you will have with dinner or lunch. It will help you digest better and absorb you meal slower to give your body a steady flow of glucose rather than a spike.
In the winter nothing is more delicious than a hot cup of tea with a lemon slice and some grated ginger. The combination of the two is helpful when dealing with cravings, sugar addictions, a sore throat, or an upset tummy.
You should only use filtered water for this beverage. Fluoride and chlorine are toxins! If you don’t have a good water filter let the water sit for five or ten minutes on the counter, since some chemicals will dissipate when exposed to air.

All About Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is made from fresh ripe apples that are fermented and undergo a stringent process to create the final product. The vinegar contains a host of vitamins, beta-carotene, pectin and vital minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, chlorine, sulphur, iron, and fluorine.
Pectin in the vinegar is a fiber that helps reduce bad cholesterol and helps in regulating blood pressure. This vinegar helps extract calcium from the fruits, vegetables and meat it is mixed with, helping in the process of maintaining strong bones. Potassium deficiency causes a variety of ailments including hair loss, weak fingernails, brittle teeth, sinusitis, and a permanently running nose. Apple cider vinegar is loaded with potassium. Potassium deficiency results in stunted growth. These ailments can be avoided with the intake of apple cider vinegar. The potassium in this vinegar also helps in eliminating toxic waste from the body. The beta-carotene helps in countering damage caused by free radicals, helping one maintain firmer skin and a youthful appearance. Apple cider vinegar is good for those wanting to lose weight. It helps in breaking down fat and helps in natural weight reduction.
Apple cider vinegar contains malic acid helpful in fighting fungal and bacterial infections. This acid dissolves uric acid deposits that form around joints, helping relieve joint pains. This dissolved uric acid is gradually eliminated from the body. It is claimed that apple cider vinegar is helpful in ailments such as constipation, headaches, arthritis, weak bones, indigestion, high cholesterol, diarrhea, eczema, sore eyes, chronic fatigue, mild food poisoning, hair loss, high blood pressure, obesity, along with a host of many other ailments.
Benefit of each Ingredient:
Garlic is a broad spectrum antibiotic. Unlike chemical antibiotics that kill off millions of friendly bacteria your body needs, Garlic only targets the invading bacteria and even promotes and increases your healthy bacteria. Garlic is a powerful anti-fungal and destroys any antigen, pathogen and any harmful or disease causing micro-organism.
Onion is Garlic’s next of kin and has similar but milder action. Together they are a tremendous fighting duo.
Horseradish is a potent herb for the sinus and lungs. It opens up the sinus passages and increases the circulation there, where most doctors agree, the common cold and influenza often starts.
Ginger contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties and is a tremendous circulatory stimulant.
Cayenne (Peppers) is the most powerful circulatory propellant known. It simply sends the antibiotic and disease fighting properties of the other herbs where they’re needed most.
Turmeric clears infection and reduces inflammation inside of the body. It blocks cancer from developing. It is especially helpful for those with joint pain.
The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, used vinegar around 400 B.C. for its health giving qualities. It is said that he had only two remedies: honey and apple cider vinegar.

Slow Cooker Chuck Roast Recipe
Get a 2lb beef roast (chuck roast is good).
Make a bed of sliced onions and garlic cloves in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Rub the meat with some pepper and minced rosemary and lay the roast on top of the onion/garlic bed.
Pour 1 cup broth and a little red wine in, cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours.
If you don’t have any broth you can make a quick one out of some chicken or beef bones, peppercorns, whole crushed garlic, and anything else — bay leaves, carrots, etc. Keep it simple. ADD 1/4 OF VINEGAR TO BROTH PER 2 LBS BONES/MEAT TO BRING OUT NUTRIENTS IN BONES. Cook broth for several hours, strain, and refrigerate.
You can still make the roast recipe above without broth, just use water and wine, though it is extra yummy made with broth. I add tomatoes sometimes.
Slow Cooker Beer Braised Short Ribs
1 tbsp canola oil
2 lb boneless short ribs
salt and black pepper to taste
2 cans or bottles (12 oz each) Guinness Draught
2 cups low-sodium beef broth
3 large carrots, cut into large chunks
2 onions, quartered
2 stalks celery, cut into large chunks
8 cloves garlic, peeled
2 bay leaves
Mix gremolata of parsley, lemon zest, and garlic. You may add anchovies, mint or even rosemary or sage to this:
1/2 cup chopped parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
Grated zest of 2 oranges or lemons
Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat. Season all sides of the ribs with salt and pepper. Cook them until a rich brown crust develops on the outside. Remove the ribs and place in a slow cooker.
While the pan is still hot, add the beer and scrape up any bits stuck to the bottom with a wooden spoon. Pour the beer over the short ribs.
Add the broth, carrots, onions, celery, garlic, and bay leaves to the short ribs and set the slow cooker to high. Add gremolata. Cook for 4 hours, until the beef is tender and nearly falling apart. Discard the bay leaves.
TERIYAKI PORK CHOPS WITH BLUEBERRY-GINGER RELISH
4 bone-in center-cut pork chops, (about 1 3/4 pounds), trimmed of fat
MARINADE
3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
BLUEBERRY-GINGER RELISH
1 cup fresh blueberries, coarsely chopped
1 shallot, chopped
1 serrano chile, seeded and minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
¼ teaspoon salt
Place pork chops in a large sealable plastic bag. Whisk soy sauce, sherry, garlic, brown sugar and crushed red pepper in a small bowl. Add the marinade to the bag, seal and turn to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Relish: About 20 minutes before grilling the pork, combine blueberries, shallot, chile, cilantro, lime juice, ginger and salt in a small bowl.
Preheat grill to high. Remove the pork chops from the marinade (discard marinade). Grill the chops 3 to 5 minutes per side. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving with the relish.
Roast Leg of Lamb
The coating for this roast leg of lamb is based on one of Julia Child’s in her Mastering the Art of French Cooking. It seals in the juices and adds a delightful flavor. Use fresh rosemary.
1(6-pound) leg of lamb
1/2 cup Dijon-type prepared mustard
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 clove garlic, mashed
1 teaspoon ground rosemary or thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped)
1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
2 tablespoons olive oil
Remove the fell or filament and all excess fat from the lamb. Blend the mustard, soy sauce, garlic, herbs, and ginger in a bowl. Beat in the olive oil drop by drop to make a mayonnaise-like coating. Using a rubber spatula or brush, paint the lamb with the mixture and set it on the rack of a roasting pan. Coat the meat several hours before roasting. Roast at 300 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes per pound for medium rare (bone in), 13 to 15 minutes per pound for well done. Do not exceed a meat-thermometer reading of 155 to 160 degrees F, or the meat will lose much of its juice and flavor. For a boned leg, the cooking time more than doubles.
10-Minute Rosemary Lamb Chops
12 lamb chops
6 TBS fresh lemon juice
3 TBS chopped fresh rosemary,
3 medium cloves garlic, pressed
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Press garlic and let sit for at least 5 minutes to bring out its hidden health benefits.
Mix together lemon juice, rosemary, pressed garlic, salt, and pepper. Rub lamb chops with mixture. Set aside on plate.
Preheat broiler on high heat, and place a stainless steel or cast iron skillet large enough to hold the lamb chops under the heat for about 10 minutes to get very hot (about 5-7 inches from the heat source). Be sure that the handle is also metal. Once pan is hot, place lamb chops in pan, and return to broiler for about 4-5 minutes, depending on thickness of lamb. Lamb is cooked quickly as it is cooking on both sides at the same time.
